We learned that if we have an accident and our clothes start on fire, we should "Stop, drop and roll." We got to practice this on the carpet at the fire station so that the firefighters could make sure that we knew how to get the fire out safely.
While we were at the fire station, the fire fighters received a call about a real (small) fire. We saw how they prepared the fire engine to help the people who called 911 for help. The fire fighters told us that our homework was to go home and have our parents test the smoke detectors in our home. This is so that we know what the alarm sounds like and so that we know the batteries are still working.
