This week we talked about Thanksgiving and what we were thankful for. The students brought home "Tom the Turkey" to disguise so that he didn't get eaten for Thanksgiving dinner. Next week we will continue talking about thanksgiving and we will also talk about nocturnal animals or "night animals" as many kindergarten students call them. In gym this week, the kids learned cup stacking. The students had to take the cups down and put them back up as quickly as possible.
This week we learned different ways to stay healthy. We talked about the importance of getting enough sleep, brushing our teeth, eating breakfast each morning and exercising every day. The students came up with a whole list of things they could do to exercise. Some favorites were playing outside with their friends on the playground and playing tag. We even got to try a new adventure to fitness video online. On Friday, our class read with first grade buddies during reading workshop. The students took turn sharing their stories.
On Tuesday, we had pajama day. It was wear our pajamas and slippers all day. In math we made patterns with our partners. In science, we measured and weighed pumpkins and recorded our findings in our pumpkin books. On Halloween we had a lot of fun reading with partners, exploring our senses with pumpkins by taking out the pulp and counting seeds. We also had different activities in the gym during phy. ed. and music time. We had relay races, bowling, minute to win it, and painting paper leaves. During snack time we made cauldron soup. Such a fun and exciting day! We also played a math game called Roll-A-Spider and we made a spider web out of yarn as a whole class. We worked together to spin the web and hold on to it so it didn't break or fall apart. |
