We started our day with a costume parade through the kindergarten hallway. Later we synergized to make a spiderweb out of yarn. We also read our books with our friends. In the afternoon, we had parents help us to play Halloween bingo, make necklaces, play a spider math game, make a Halloween little reader book, and make "dirt" pudding with Oreo cookies and gummy worms.
Today we made alphabet hats, worked with partners to put our letters of the alphabet in order, and read with our partners. We sang many songs about our letters and sounds and even made all of the letters of the alphabet with our bodies! We had a lot of fun finding letters around our room and our school.
Today we learned about the letter Ee and the color pink. We read several books about Elephant and Piggie by Mo Willems and then worked hard to make our own Elephant and Piggie from our books as we practiced following directions. We have had a great beginning to our school year. So far we have learned about the letters Aa, Bb, Cc, and Dd. We made apples for Aa day, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees for Bb day, colorful cats for Cc day and today we made spotted dogs for Dog's Colorful Day. We have learned how to use crayons, pencils, glue sticks, scissors and ink daubers in our art projects so far.
For now, our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees are in the display case in the front of the school. Here is a picture of our art! Our first day of school was a success! We met new friends, learned some classroom and school procedures and had fun in the process. I look forward to learning more about the kids and teaching them their letters and colors in the upcoming weeks. Tomorrow is wear red day!
-Miss Evers Today the letters Q and U got married. The boys dressed up as QUarterbacks and the girls dressed up as QUeens. We made a list of QU words and had a fun wedding and reception for the letters that stay together. "Q and U stick like glue!" We had a lot of fun learning today!
